If you are purchasing a building and plan to convert it into an alternative space such as a tiny house living, an office, or mancave/ she shed, there are a few things that you should know.

1. Make sure to purchase it with a pre-hung house door. This type of door will be more secure, as well as insulated so that the building will have better heating/cooling efficiency 

2. Eliminate the gable vents and upfit the building with a vented ridge cap. If the building isn’t properly ventilated it can create issues in the future such as mold.

3. Purchase insulated windows as this will help with efficiency as well.

4. Purchase all other necessary upfits that will be required to pass inspection in the county that the building will be delivered to. Such as, double king & jacks with correct headers, anchors, wrapping the building with house wrap, etc.

Workshop:

Another benefit would be to customize the color of your building to match your house. Also, to create the layout that best fits your needs. For instance, if you are wanting a workshop you would probably want a workbench or an electrical package to work on and power your tools.
